Join us NEXT YEAR to learn about recent developments in monitoring forest resources
using airborne and terrestrial LiDAR systems. We were excited to host this year's conference, and look forward to seeing you next year!
Silviscan Steering Committee |
The Silviscan 2005 Conference was a huge success! We thank everyone for the enthusiastic participation, and hope that everyone left with something that they can incorporate into their own research...which of course will be presented at next year's LiDAR conference. In the meantime, the abstract volume you received at the conference can be downloaded here. Also, the corresponding presentations can be downloaded from the agenda page or keynote page where permissible. |

Acknolwedgements |
|
We'd like to acknowledge the support of the Potomac Region and Virginia Tech Chapter of the ASPRS. Their generous
donation will enable this conference to provide even better opportunities for members within the Forest Inventory/LiDAR discipline to communicate their ideas and share their information. Thank you!

Conference
Objectives |
|
We hope that the conference will generate an active discussion concerning
the state-of-the-laser-arts and future research directions. We'll explore
links between researchers, producers, and end-users of laser products, with
the overall objective being to encourage and support the operational use of
airborne laser scanning data in operational forest and landscape inventories.
Specific Objectives
|
Special
PE&RS issue |
The conference co-chairs, Randy Wynne and Ross Nelson, will also be co-editing a special issue of Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing to be published in December of 2006. Those interested in submitting an original manuscript for review must carefully follow the PE&RS instructions for authors and bring four hard copies AND a complete softcopy in Word or Wordperfect format to Silviscan. Contact with the editors regarding your intent to submit is highly encouraged (and will speed up the review process), but not required. Please be advised that an individual author may be an author on one and only one manuscript submitted to the special issue, regardless of author order.
